What is Glamping?

Glamping
Camping turns chic. Glamping is a new way of experiencing outdoor camping, with luxury tents but also an eco-friendly approach in respect of the environment. Spending a night in a glamping campsite is almost the same as staying in a hotel, with all the comforts you could wish for.
So, what is glamping after all?
This trend originally emerged in warm territories such as Africa or Australia, spreading more and more across Europe, especially in colder locations like Norway or Switzerland.
The glamping experience doesn’t affect the contact with nature, but there are added comforts and you spend less than in a hotel. Just like in traditional camping, at the heart of it all there is a tent, already set-up and equipped with real beds, linens, closets and sometimes even a private bathroom. Guests are no longer required to set up their own tents: just like in a hotel, they find their accommodation ready and already equipped with all the necessities. The tent can be a Mobile Home or a Safari Tent, although there are also examples of Air Lodges. The latter are two-story tents that allow guests to admire the starry sky right from the bed, situated on an elevated loft.
This new camping philosophy attracts an eco-friendly tourist who dislikes crowds and seeks a connection with the earth. For this reason, these facilities are also eco-friendly as they promote recycling and encourage energy conservation by using only energy saving bulbs. Moreover, the furnishings chosen by glamping campsites do not use plastic or materials that can harm the environment.
Glamping is suitable for both the seaside and the mountains. The seaside glamping tents, located near the coast, are lighter and more equipped than those for mountain glamping. The mountain tents, having to deal with the heating problem in the winter season, can be equipped with air conditioning or eco-friendly stoves. The experience ranges from tree-house accommodations (typical solutions in mountain glamping) to Glamping Pods, a cross between luxury tents and mobile homes, made of wood and suitable for facing both cold and hot weather.
What is a Glamping Holiday?
Wherever you want to go, there is a glamping experience suitable for your needs.
A Glamping Holiday is nothing less than… a holiday full of Glamping, plain and simple. Indulging in luxury camping doesn’t even require spending a fortune on airfare and transfers. This new trend has gained a lot of popularity in Italy, to the point that you can easily find a glamping site near you and enjoy an alternative weekend getaway.
To experience Glamping in Tuscany you can come to Barco Reale: relaxation and comfort are the keywords of our Safari Lodges, where luxury and nature come together in a perfect mix.
In Slovenia, you can experience Glamping in Bled, more specifically on the shore of the homonymous lake, where motor boats are forbidden. Here, the glamping site is equipped with wireless internet, waste sorting for recycling, and a small eco-village with untreated ecological wooden cabins.
In South Africa, it is possible to stay in actual treehouse accommodations. The atmospheres are evocative and immersed in the tranquility of the forest, yet without sacrificing any ease.
