Glamping: luxury tent camping
Glamping is the new frontier of camping holidays but with a more luxurious twist. Luxury camping is gaining popularity across Europe thanks to its combination of nature immersion, camping experience and the comfort of luxury hotels. Glamping succeeds in bringing all those people who do not want to give up the comforts of their home closer to camping. This phenomenon has also taken hold in Italy, especially among the younger generation.
Glamping originates from the English words “camping” and “glamour”, and really stands for camping with luxury tents. Indeed, the word “glam” has a meaning in Italian related to sparkling, shiny things that never go unnoticed. It is no coincidence that this term originated in the rock world, thanks to David Bowie, indicating his glamorous lifestyle that always draws attention.
The phenomenon is especially popular among those who want to enjoy tent holidays without giving up the comforts of luxury campsites. As a result, beaches and campgrounds have started to equip themselves with dedicated areas to accommodate technologically advanced or rustic and exotic-looking tents. These tents often feature a comfortable bedroom from which to admire the stars.
Difference between Camping and Glamping
Although similar, camping and glamping are very different. The first one involves sleeping in the middle of nature with your own tent set up for the occasion. Typically, you share space and meals with others and the cost per night is low, which makes camping very popular among the younger generation.
On the other hand, glamping involves pre-set tents, furnished with designer and artisanal furniture. We are talking about spacious tents with the comforts of a hotel: beds, sheets, wardrobes and a private bathroom. It's a true luxury camping experience in the midst of nature. Glamping can be enjoyed in all seasons thanks to indoor heating. The price per night is higher compared to camping, but this is well justified by all the advantages and comforts it provides. In conclusion, it is not just a simple camping with luxury tents. Its philosophy is tied to words like chic, comfort and wild nature: it represents a style of vacation suitable for both travelers seeking a connection with nature and lifestyle lovers.
Camping and glamping share the same ideology of outdoor camping, but in different ways and targeting different tourists.
